Highburton is section of Kirkburton a village in the county of West Yorkshire, England, lying 5 miles southeast of Huddersfield. It was the hamlet until the middle of the 20th century, when housing developments increased a size of the village substantially. Highburton has an ancient market cross and is home to Highburton Cooperative Society, which operates the world's oldest operating independent individual retail cooperative outlet, founded within 1856.
